a hybrid!?

Hello Infblue,
the pics belonging to Polypterus sp. aff. endlicherii are somewhat disturbing ...
The pics were made in a "photo tank" - including catching the bichirs out of their home tank, so the fish get stressed and show not the coloration they normally used to. This effect is mostly obvious on the lapradei pics ... quite pale specimens.
To help getting clear pictures it was used very bright lightning - bichirs don't love this.
So we do not get visible the whole reality ...
Another thing: The angle of the camera! As seen on some pictures here in the forum the angle towards the tank will cause some "distortion" - so a individual seems to be broader, shorter, thicker ...
And: The coloration of lightning AND the white balance of the camera will cause fals effects to the pic - and the reaction of the bichir to the tank lightning too ... uh, so many factors!
But i think we can see here the Polypterus sp. aff. endlicherii ...
It's a beautiful fish! The pics do have awesome character too - welcome to "Jurassic Tank" ...

now I see that there is a new fish in Toyin,s store that he never seen or had before . is it a hybrid or a new species, ther should be a real study of these fish . I have the Lapradi-Kolibe,Nigeria ,Tinkinso, Guania, and P.sp aff Endlicheri they all look differant just patterns and color the Kolibe relley stands out. and so does the hyrid Endlicheri so whats next. I would like to know.
How long has this guy been with ya? When I ordered the Tikinso endlies these werent on the list.... unless I missed it ha ha ha ha ha
