:eek:well tonight was a kick in the crotch:eek:

I came in tonight to do some work on the tanks.

I started with hooking up the 2 magnum 350's and uv sterilzer to the 230g. Got that done with no hitches, no leaks all is well. I take a break to check my emails and then figured I should get to salting up the water in the 180g.

So I went to climb underneath the 300g 10ft to plug in my hand mixer I use for getting the salt mixed in to the water. And what do I hit but wet carpet :WHOA::yuck:.

At this moment I am so hoping that the water I just hit is from the magnums as I was getting the hoses all cleared into the rubbermade tub.

Sure enough the water on the floor has the smell of old filter, so I am like :D, though what I see next just makes me go :WHOA::jaw::WHOA:. Yep i have a crack in the bottom of my new 300g.

I have decided that from now on I will never set up a tank that is larger than 100 g without foam underneath. I always try to see the good in things when something bad happens. And the good in this is that I just knew I needed to come here tonight to do the work on the 2 tanks. Imagine if I did not find this tonight and the crack blew out the tank?

I will take some pics when I have the tank drained, but, basically the crack is straight across the middle where the brace is. At any rate the silicone held :hitting::ROFL:.

I have a few ideas on how to fix this, but I am going to phone my glass dude that does work on my tanks and get his thoughts. He used to build big tanks for a living, so this should be something that he can fix pretty easy.

My one thought that comes to me is if it was simply done with the patch trick, considering this tank is not planned to ever move from the spot where it is. Has anyone ever seen a cracked bottom blow out a front or back panel on a tank?

Pretty much I am doing nothing to this tank till I hear from both the glass dude and some of yall here.

I JUST HAD THE MOST KICKING START TO MY DAY WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

In addition to my restaurant, fish company that I am starting we also do old cars.

Well 2 summers ago there was this killer car that I was gonna get for my daughter for her 16 bday present which is 4 years from now. Then my doorknob exbusiness partner thought he would try to mess with with me and learned hell may not have fury such as a scorned woman, but, THERE IS MEANER SOB THAN A UPSET CHEF.

I am kind of like the ant on the toilet seat, I do great till I get pee'd off. Then you best hope you can flush faster than I can move because when I get back at ya my bark is the same as my bite, you are screwed either way.

Well got the bugger taken care of but had to wash out the sweet little ride I was getting for my daughter. Last night just for kicks before I left my restaurant I checked the local old car listing and there it was. Only one problem I could not call the number at 130am. So first thing this morning I am up and give the dude a call, it seems that he was gonna keep it for himself but just decided to sell it again and there it was the sweet little car. I pick it up on friday

hello all just a quick update

the cracked 300g has made for an interesting juggle with the fish here but I think I have been able to make mini changes in the communities in the various tanks.

I moved my snooks to my holding tank where they immediately began to destroy the demasoni babies lololol

IMGP5502.jpg

I moved my loiselle(5) to my 140g african community hoping they would not get the smack down put on them
IMGP5503.jpg

Then I decided that I was going to need my 100g that my wal was in for tank population control so I moved him to the old snook loiselle tank

IMGP5510.jpg

And I got a fishie score picked up all this slate and piece of drift wood for $25

In the midst of shutting down my tanks at home due to demo and reno that we are about to do. I really don't want my tanks exposed to any airborne stuff so I decided to move the residents to the university. I have a 75g sw with my panther grouper, 65g with my mbu puffer and my 55g with cories and some fry left at home.

In the rearrangement I had to decide where to put my 21 inch aro and my 18 inch shovel as they would eat my africans if I left them in the 230g. I took some shots of the fish as I redid the tanks and took some full tank shots just to show what they look like as of wed.

up to this point there was some planning to the tanks by that I mean just a bit, so after I spent some time looking at the full tank shots and they just did not look as good as they could so tonight I redid them and they now look like this

I culled out the 180 african tank by throwing them into the 300g

Now one thing that really means alot to me is what my kids think of this wonderful hobby, and when one of them comes along and wants to take part I do my best to make it happen.

My son caleb wanted this put in a tank
IMGP6426.jpg

So I reworked the 180g to be a kid's dream tank
