A Lot of Money Down the Drain :(

WOW, this brings back a "close call" memory from my not too distant past. A couple of years ago I got this beautiful 14" endli female from Toyin, and for days she jumped against the top of the 75gal acrylic I had set up in the living room. About every ten minutes "KABOOM", smashed up against the ceiling of the tank. Went on for 2 days! She became known as "Thumper". One night I was sitting about 4' away from the tank watching TV, when she came crashing thru the styrofoam piece held down by a 2x4, flying thru the air, thru the opening in the wall to the kitchen, and kerplunk into the sink! I jumped up, turned on the light and she was nowhere to be found. Thinking she was possibly down the disposal I turned to get a flashlight when I heard her flopping around on the floor under one of the cabinets. WHEW!! Dodged the bullet that time! KEEPER, I know how important your bichirs are to you, and I know what special care you give them. All I can say is that Harley was lucky to have you as a keeper, even if for far too short a time! Hang in there--Sorry for your loss! Johnathan:(

A Gem out of your collection is now gone, I feel for your loss take solice in the great fish you still have.

I lost my first endi as a jumper when they were near impossible to find round here, "only" a $100 but I was sick for weeks over it.

Time heals all

That's terrible news to hear...sorry for your loss:(

I can't even imagine, I felt bad enough just losing a couple of jumping danios. If it makes you feel any better, if there was a smell I don't think it was still alive.

Yesterday, i did a water change like normal and things were fine until i lost all my lake tang fish - I was told that my water is fine and everything looks good. So I asked the guy at the fish what happened and he asked a few questions. Then he proceeded to tell me the water was to hot from my AZ hose outside (that I had been running for awhile). It was not a fun day in AZ yesterday!! A lesson learned and a time to move on with the next set of fish and the challenges of keeping them happy :)!!

But it will be awhile until I move one!! Though ouch!!

Keeper sorry to hear about your loss but as others have said Harley was gone before you found her. I am really starting to think that Ansorgis are among the worst for being jumpers of all the bichirs. I was lucky enough to at one point own 4 of these but I am down to one and all losses were due to jumping and in some cases it was multiple times before I did not find them in time. Every time I think I have my tank sealed tightly the Ansorgi seem to find a gap and take advantage of it. In fact yesterday my last Ansorgi was doing the carpet surf when I happened to walk by the tank......but I was lucky enough to get there right after the landing...
