A personable cichlid for my 75 gallon tank.

Well then it seems like all 3 of the threads I made for this are still leading me to the severum, convict, firemouth, danios, shark, raphael cat, pleco, and four line stocking (that was a mouth full). So I'll probably wind up doing that. I will also make a new thread in a few minutes about the best foods for them so keep an eye out for that. Thanks for the help.

Among medium size CA/SA, GT can develop a big hump, but I have never seen JD develop any appreciable hump. Among small CA, cryptoheros species (convict familty) can develop a big hump for their small size. My cryptoheros panamesis pair, barely 3 inch, are already developing a small hump specially the female.

Firemouths and convicts are not going to be easily trained fish to hand feed. And even then, there are specific individuals who will never take to hand feeding. They just aren't glass bangers. The sev is a different story.

I would only recommend keeping a JD or male GT in the 75 if you don't keep any other cichlids. A female GT might work with one single 5-6" cichlid depending on personality.

Some Cryptoheros only grow a nuchal hump with a mate around and some grow them regardless. Most will not grow a nuchal hump until they are in the 5-6" range (and older Crypto). I would recommend C. sajica (aka T-bar cichlid) if you want something that will grow a hump regardless of a mate being present (obviously shoot for a male) and they grow it fairly early on (3-4").

I have a chocolate cichlid. It's like having an oscar. They are moody at times and will sulk if they don't get their way, but they are like having a dog in a tank. If you start with them when they are only a couple inches, they should be plenty warmed up to you by 4" and ready to start hand feed training. However, a chocolate will need a 75 all to itself, with a 6' tank being much better.

What about the green severum and a spectibilis (not sure if I'm spelling that correctly). I know they get rather large (10-12 in) and have a large bioload but they seem to be quite personable.
