A personable cichlid for my 75 gallon tank.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Forget those last few I wasn't really thinking for them and should've known they were bad ideas. How about this:

1 either texas (or) red texas (or) vieja species. (For 1.5-2 years only, definitely upgrading)
6 giant danios (as DITHER so if I loose a couple here and there I won't be traumatized :))
1 striped raphael catfish
1 sailfin pleco (1.5-2 years)
1 four line pimelodus

My recommendation is to find one fish you absolutely want to be the one you can't live without and make it your centerpiece. Then stock the tank with species it is compatible with.

Well the only problem with that is the fish I LOVE would kill the danios more than likely. Vieja species are all so pretty it's going to be hard for me to pick (vieja genus in general is my second favorite genus in cichlidae) so probably a black belt. Just hope it's personable. Either that or a severum focused tank. I'm still trying to decide since I never had cichlids before it's hard for me to pick a personable fish from experience like I can with community fish.

i have a Blackbelt and love it. The danios will die, mine killed a group of silver dollars it's size. My Blackbelt is personable

Hmm, well the danios are dither but that doesn't mean I WANT them to die. Are there any viejas that wouldn't eat the danios? Or what would be some other personable single species that go good the catfish any have a LESS chance of killing the danios?

If you want a big cichlid the danios more than likely will die accept it or don't get a larger cichlid it's really that simple

Well, i hate getting rid of fish but if I gave the danios to a friend when the cichlid started eying them then what would my options be? I'm keeping all the catfish (striped raph, sailfin pleco, and four line). It has to lath for as long as 2 years before I need to upgrade the cichlid if needed.

You more than likely won't get the chance my Blackbelt killed all but one of the dollars at night. Either accept they'll die or get rid of them before hand. Its the sad truth of the matter
