A question thats been on my mind...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've always been given the impression the already mention mystus wyckii is up there as the most aggresive and wasn't possible to put any kind of tank mate with. A local LFS of mine has an ARTC which they say is also that bad tho......

Okay so it seems that the wychii is one of the highest fish with a record of being evil to other fish. Then we have wolf fish, snakehead, anything else?

Really.... I've seen a few videos on them but whats your experience with them, like what have you noticed about them that makes them such killers?

i havent personally kept them above 6".
ive heard they get more aggressive around 12".
but when i had my two babies,i did notice them killing the feeders without eating them.
they ate worms most of the time in fact....and just killed the feeders.
they are very very cool guys to keep, but grow very big quickly...and are the only fish i know that actually kill everything else for fun.
i knew someone whose aba aba actually killed EVERYTHING in his tank including brycons, plecos, catfish i believe.
eventually he had it alone.

Damn thats preatty monstrous. But I think that if you have larger fish with it you won't have to many problems. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19153&page=2&highlight=aba

look at the 4th pic in the 14th post. Obviously those fish are way too big for it to chomp.

cool pics...from what ive heard they will tear stuff apart thats too big to swallow whole...and they will take chunks out of bigger fish.
ive seen a pic of a pacu with a semi-circular chunk ripped out by an aba aba...
of course, there are always exceptions to the rule.

how about considering electric eel? hhehehe

Saratoga jardini cant even be considered here. As a general rule they are typically only agressive to others of the same species. A mate of mine was telling me he had his snakehead and his 20 inch dovii in seperate tanks but one sprung a leak so he put the dovii in with the channa, the dovii was giving the chan a hard time before he went to bed, he woke uo the next morning and his dovii had no head. talk about killing for the sake of killing.
