a sump for the 210g

Hello everyone,

It looks like I'll be buying a 210 gallon tank soon (coming with a 55 gallon sump). I'll be housing a fire eel and some cichlids. What pump should I use? The sticky on here would suggest about a 2000gph but that seems wayy too high. Thanks

I think 1600-2000gph sounds about right. I have a 1000gph pump on my planted 57g tank

thanks, I've decided to do at least 2000gph. Does anyone have an opinion about a preferred pump? I'm looking for one that has enough gph at about 4-5' head and has a relatively low electrical footprint.

I don't think "low electrical footprint" and "2000 GPH at 4-5' head" go hand in hand.

I have a Danner Mag Drive and it's treated me very well so far. They make a larger series (Hy-drive) as I recall.

Take a look at a submersible pond pump. I had an external pond pump that pushed 3400gph and ran at only 1.7a

I use a danner mag Hy-Drive 3200 on a 210 and get around 2000 gph out of it at ~ 5' head.

well thats the point. I can afford plenty but would prefer one that doesnt use alot of energy. The tank will have at least 8 cycles per hour, regardless
