Google is your friend. You can find a few kits out there with a little investigation.

On the cheap go to West Marine or similar and look at bilge pump floats. ;)

oh nice, I just looked up float switches and theyre about have the price for the same job :)

I'm still kinda iffy about the extra energy consumption though
 
There is no energy consumption, ittsa float switch. You just need to use some imagination to set it up to operate it upside down.
 
Id look into getting holes drilled in the back wall of the tank instead. But thats just me.

I use 2 quiet one 6000's on my 225g and it works great. Im also running a 55g sump. Its better to go overkill on your filtration than wish you had more. RIght Jose :)
