Well I'm no holy worshipper. But my local temple does have a very large pond and monster fish in it. So I decided to visit it after work today. The last time I went to the temple was when I was 5 years old and wasn't into fishkeeping yet. So I paid no attention to the pond.

The Pond is located directly under a shrine, creating the illusion of a castle moat. I do not know the exact size, But I can say its pretty big, big enough to house a shoal of monster fish that some of us can't even house one properly.

Well enough talking, this is a photo lounge after all. So let the pictures roll!

The main attraction would definitely be the Giant snakehead. As to what species it is, I don't have a clue. I'm no snakehead expert. Apparently it does live up to its name as it has to be caged otherwise it would attack the other monster fishes. It's around 3~3.5' in length.

Then there are the Jardinis. I must admit, I have never seen them before and I thought they were silver arowanas until my friend corrected me. Apparently they do not fear me as my camera inched closer to them. The Kois were scare off but those guy stood their grounds. They are about 2.5' in length.

Another beautiful attraction was the shoal of huge black pacus. I never seen one this big before, let alone a whole shoal of them. They are shy and hide under the shrine. I heard that they were omnivores and pluck of some limes and toss into the pond. They are about the size of 2 hand palms! And i have HUGE hands!

Notice the coins in the pond? Chinese believe that tossing a coin into the pond and if a fish eats it and spit it out, its a sign of good luck.

There is also a red-tail catfish. This little guy is friendly. He was hiding under a tyre when he saw me, he just swim towards me, begging for food. Needless to say, I turned down his request :( as I don't have any fish food with me. Only a juvenile at 1'. I hope he can reach the full potential of 5'.

In a corner of the 4 sides, there is a little "refugium" where little tiny fishes take refuge away from the large mouth of the monsters like RTC and Pacu.

Here little blood parrot fishes were seen fighting and chasing each other. While other tiny fishes minded their own business

The final attraction was a seperate pond. Here, a whole bunch of red-eared slider can be found. They are the only species of turtle allowed in singapore.

It's interesting that no other types of turtles are allowed there.
