Yea Scott, I'm following your lead and growing out a few f2's. I have one 2" male that has always been 2x as big as his brothers and sisters. I'm treating like gold in the hopes of getting him to grow bigger, better and faster than his father.

Thats what I did with Jr Ed. He was always twice as large as most and still quite abit larger then the largest siblings. He was easy to pick out as I went through 300 fry as he had a spot under his dorsal just above the middle spot that soon becomes a stripe.

I would post a picture to show the diffirence but this is your thread. It's amazing how the son looks "NOTHING" like the parents such as the cat like eyes that wilds seem to have. Instead, he is more colorful and definently thicker built. He is already as tall and thicker then dad, just not as long. Personally I like growing the fish out at a young age because you have a bigger impact on all aspects of their development. Needless to say since we have had our guys since they were eggs, we will get the best results. Enjoy and start posting his pictures.

Sorry to hear about your male going on a hunger strike, hopefully he comes around soon.

Anubisscott ..... is this a common theme with F1 Midas?
This is just two cases, but I am starting to think something is up. My F2 male eats all day and is always sifting throgh the sand getting any pellets or flakes left over. He is always "grazing". However we can't draw a complete conclusion on two cases, but it is very intresting that a fish would rather starve then eat the best food made readily avialable. Seems to be mainly the male in my case as the female eats her fill and even eats crickets by hand.
