I think it would be easier if I drained the tank onto the floor. That way I would have to jump up and run when I hear tanks and buckets overflowing.

My fish get more water on the floor (and walls...and ceiling...and furniture...) than I do.:grinno:

happens to me all the time, even WITH a python. knock the hose out as its drainng/filling, or pull it back from outside the window as im draining.

i used to spill atleast 10% of what i was draining doing the bucket brigade between walking around wth them, and having that extremely bad memory and even shorter attentio..........HEY!!! look at the cat!

i so totally understand that
every time my RTCs and TSNs come up for food and if by chance are startled by me they give a tail slap and throw all the water on me , thats the reason why my youngest brother never feeds my cats

.HEY!!! look at the cat!
in my case it is hey look at those chics in the opposite building

I have the reverse of that, usually the siphon coming out of the bucket while draining, and since half the time I'm on a chair to get a birds eye view to make sure I vacuumed all the crap out, i dont feel it get me wet in order to know to stop. Lol a python is in my future.

It happens, sometimes im draining tanks with 2 hoses, vaccing with a third and refilling with a fourth. While looking at the fish!

LOL!...this happend to me yesturday...i relocated one of my tanks, so now my python's hose doesnt reach as far, so i got one of those adapters and connected 2 hoses together...i started vacumming the gravel for 2 min..and like an idiot i didnt remember to re-check the adapter connection :duh:...so when i was finished there was a massive flood in my living room!! :wall:

luckily, the GF was asleep..so i had enough time to soak up all the water w/ towels and do my water change..by the time she woke up all the w/changes were done and i was doing all the laundry (actually just the towels i used ;)) ...she was surprised i did all the house chores by myself!...i looked like a hero!!!

i learned 2 things that day...1) always re-check connections and 2) what the GF doesnt know wont hurt her! (or me)lol...:D
