when my husband cleans the ponds,we leave the water on to fill them back up and most of the time we forget to turn it off.many times we have had fish swimming in our yard!i guess i should get a timer.2 weeks ago i was setting up our 20 gallon in the family room and i was trying to do it before my husband got up.well like a dummy i put the hose in the tank and (without anything holding it in)turned on the water.the friggin' hose shot out and sprayed down my walls and floor.luckily we had tile laid last summer,so i rushed to clean all the water up and got my tank up with my hubby none the wiser. :grinno:

I was filling my big tank yesterday morning and went outside for a minute. I got distracted and came in with 20 gallons on the floor :nilly:

ok this has happened a lot of times with me when i do those all-tank-water-change-thing
i go to look at some fish or when i am trying to adjust the decor in the tank or .......... and then i feel like i am standing in water and then i remember that i was filling one of my tanks and then i am running to stop the water remove some water from the overfilled tank and the there go a few hours trying to soak all the water from the floor

so does this happen to you people too or am i the only one with this syndrome

Stop smoking crack? Lay off the weed?

years ago I had a RTC knock a jet from a canister filter and it dumped 20 gallons of water onto the hardwood floors before anyone knew. ruined the floor, glad it was a rental home...

I ALWAYS spill water on the floor when water changing

I spill, but not because I have a hose shoved in my tank running while I am off goofing around with other projects. My spills come in the form of drips / hose leftovers, no more than an ounce or so at the most. I have buckets all over the place though. You need to stay focused if your running water into a limit capacity object.
