on its 2nd day, noticed some skin abrasion on its body and the dorsal fins and lateral fins, the aba has not been eating the amount it has been eating in its tank before i bought it. he has not been moving around the 200 gallon tank i placed him in and just stays near the aerator area except when surfacing for air. the LFS i bought it from said that it could be stress. they advised me in putting furan gold, methylene blue, vitamins and anti chlorine and tetracycline ... i also placed several feeders in the tank but he has not been eating them... SOS ANY ADVICE?

Bro don't put any meds coz the aba aba are scaless fish. You can only use vitamins and aquarium salt. San mo nabili bro?

sa petshop sa cabanatuan city, nueva ecija. apparently, the aba ate 5 feeders today so mukhang mas active sya today. sana maka recover. nakakita ako sa banawe being sold for 1,000 pesos na mga 3" to 4". dont want to lose this monster...tnx for the advise brod.

As long as the water parameters are okay, just give him some time to get acclimated. Like previously stated dont use any meds, and quarantined feeders are safe, but beware of feeders from petstores. its best to get him on a varied diet. Quarantined feeders, raw fish filets, krill, and etc. A varied diet is alot healthier for the fish.

Whatever fish your aba hasnt eaten in about 15-20 minutes, I would just remove them. Its puts more strain on your filtration system. Its really no need to leave them in there. Sounds like things are gettin better for the aba, but vary that diet up a bit. Raw fish filets, shrimp, krill, earthworms....the more varied the diet, the better.

agreed with the statements about diet. throw in a mix of things; one good thing about having an aba is that you can watch it tear apart pretty much anything.
remove food that isnt consumed within a regular feeding period. If you try beefheart and other messy meaty foods, be careful to remove all of it because it can rot away in your water very quickly and raise the ammonia levels very quickly.
Moving big predatory fish is always very stressful and acclimating them to a different tank takes time and can be risky. This is probably what was bothering your fish.
