Abnormal Silver Aro (Sick?)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update: He ate a healthy amount of blood worms this morning and was swimming perfectly around the tank with the filter turned off and air pump also off during feeding. Pretty sure he's just tired from swimming with a current. I need to find a filter with a bottom return so there's not so much top movement. Unfortunately I did find a single spot of ich on him so I'm keeping the temp up and going to do a 25% WC this morning.

Any recommendations on a new filter without a top return?

There's an image of what I'm using. It has the extension on the intake so it sits about 8 inches lower than that image. I'll get pics up of my setup after running some errands. Give me a few hours. :D

This is the tank I currently have him in to heal after my Oscar started nipping at him a few times. He'll stay in here until about 6" and then be transferred to my 75 gallon with my solo Oscar while my 175 gallon acrylic is being built.

Does the Marineland 200 cause too much top current for him to handle? That seems to be the issue as he is fine today. Ate a healthy amount of blood worms and two pieces of freeze dried krill tail this morning. I have 3 female guppies about to give birth so we'll see how he does with them. He hasn't taken to live food yet..he's just a sweet sweet fish. :)

Edit: 55 gallon, not 75.

Update: Origami is eating and swimming normally again. Just left for a vacation so my mom is going to be visiting the house to feed him and my other fish twice a day...luckily she grew up with fish and continue to monitor him. Glad he's doing better. :)

Update 2: Just returned home from vacation and he's doing perfectly fine. Seemed to just have a reaction to the API Super Ich Cure meds. My mom, who was taking care of the pets while I was gone, said he ate normally the entire time. He quickly snapped up some krill as soon as I got home...lil' guy was hungry! Thanks for the help everyone!
