If you say you are against the right to choose could only mean you have not thought of many scenarios of why abortion may have been needed in the first place.

e.g.your wife and brilliant mother to 2 children already is told if she continues with her pregnancy she has an 80% chance of dying herself.

There are other people to think about here(two already dependant children, a loving husband and family) Those against the right to choose abortion are often misguided or ill informed of the circumstance.The right should be there for anyone no matter the circustance as No one should be forced to explain why they want it. As in this case the right thing is to think about the ones you allready have first and foremost.On behalf of the mother it is a very selfless act to abort to ensure she is around in the future.

your's, Greenterra, is the only argument I "undoubtedly" accept as a reason for abortion. But, you see, it also is the only one where two "equal " rights are faced. And one must, unfortunately prevail. And one must, most unfortunately, be more important. All other reasons make me pause and, after years of debating the issue (mostly within myself ), make me oppose abortion.

2 embryos went to abortion, I say embryos because they arent breathing like a person.

So no they DONT work if used properly.....

1 while on the pill at 18 (aborted) and 1 with a condom (she's 3 now) 97% effective... says so right on the box...

I hate that I had an abortion... and I would never do it again... however, that doesn't give me the right to tell someone else what to do... If you think its wrong to abort, then don't do it... if you think its no big deal, talk to me again after you've had one because you can't make a judgement on something like that unless you have been through it...

Either way, my feelings on abortion are my feelings... they come from experience and life lessons, and my feelings have changed throughout the years and may change again when my daughters are grown... I don't know... but i do know that I am in absolutely NO position to judge other peoples decisions, or in anyway hinder them from making one...

I think that's what gets lost in this arguement... its not about whether you think abortion is right or wrong.... its about the choice not the action...

As a nurse i saw quite a few abortions. (yes it's gross)
One partial birth abortion done only after a sterilization agreement was signed by the mother
I also saw terrible cases of child abuse IE a baby the young mother dipped in boiling water because it would not stop crying
a baby the mother slammed aginst the wall because again it would not stop crying

THREE
no birth control is 100% effective,

FOUR
people actually have sex for fun and/or recreation without the desire to have children

FIVE
there are actually cases of nonconsensual sex (rape incest etc)

SIX
for a female, having a child will definitely make getting ahead in life school carreer etc much more difficult

SEVEN
there are genetic diseases which can be screened for prior to birth


EIGHT
although welfare does not suck up as much of the GNP as lots of people think, manytimes it's the tax dollars of the working folk that support unwed mothers


Now my opinion
I'm female never wanted children, was raised catholic where birth controll is still considered a sin. wanted a hysterectomy at 21 but couldn't get it
I have friends who have had abortions, maybe they have some regrets but the timeing was bad, the birth control failed and they now have carreers and children that they can support
I also know of a couple who are a bit "slow" she got pregnant and had the baby, which needed surgery to fix it's heart etc (read money)
read my tax dollars at work
So I'm pro-choice
I also support the right to die of people with terminal illnesses

Morals are nice, religeon is a great way to controll and motivate people

funny how a lot of those against abortion are also against sex education

So basically you are weighing the "rights" of a non-entity against a person who is already here

well I am most def. not egotisitc but I will say that if something is in me and it affects me it is most def. apart of me and it being inside me I do firmily believe that unless I am married (I would discuss it with the man which would be the hubby, but still its not inside of him nor is it affecting his body) I have every right to what happens directly inside of me. Here is another example: If I am 20 and I use pertection and the pill and I still get pregnant it affects me not only by being inside me (which can cause problems in small people like me). Ontop of that I am in college and in order for me to survive in this world I must finish college - but with morning sickness, constent urination problems from blatter pressure, fatigue and nauseha (excuse my spelling), tender breats and other symptoms it makes it very hard to concentrate and by no means will I drop college as I cannot get behind and its impartive to my survival outside of my parents home. Which in another case I live at home and I would most def. get kicked out and working at a grocery store I couldnt support a kid let alone myself, while being homeless (as there is no way I could afford rent on a house or apartment). These thus far have made abortion the only option for me as I would prob. have to take a semester off of college to have a kid which wont happen. I chose to pick my survival and ensure myself a good life so that later on the road I can have and support kids. If that were the case then I may consider an abortion - I believe that it is my choice to do that instead of making my survival a crap hole. Now bring in the father figure - if he is around then I may discuss it with him but its no his life that is ruined so in no way do I see how he should have any right over what goes on in my own body. I do understand he may have helped put it there but he is not the one who has to live with it. In this case if I use my bf as the father figure then he would stick around but I know him and he would most def. support which decision I choose because he understands that it is my body and a big part of my life that is affected. The only thing he or any man really prob has to think about is do I help or run.

What if I get raped and then get pregnant?

Birth control and condoms are not 100% effective.

Thats just an example not a real life story just so you know. But my best option in that case would be to have an abrotion and I think its the rights of the single mother or in a case of marriage the rights of the woman and the father but its ultimatley her choice. Yes this is my own personal opnion you dont have to agree.
