Hi, I've heard by the locals vendors saying that flower ray are not as hardy as any other types of rays, as they wouldn't last that long in a home tank. Is that true? What do you guys think?

That's a myth. The ray just needs to be hardened up and it will go with any. I keep mine with boesemani which are the most aggressive ray. It all depends on the individual ray. I had a species tank and my flower killed my tiger ? They were good togather for 6 months one day the flower started to become alot more comfortable and bullied the tiger . The tiger died healthy

At first I would recommend keeping the rays alone seperate so you can study the individuals seperatly

Many have reported losing flowers over small things like stress or imperfect water quality. From being around, I understand flowers to be the most difficult and sensitive rays. Very few keepers can keep them to adulthood.

got a few friends here in my area, they kept flower rays before, but didnt last long compare to other rays they kept in the same tank.

The two I got earlier this year went from 8" to now over double that size...live with other rays and assorted big fish...not fragile at all!

They're actually the most dominant fish in the tank when food goes in.

I've had others in the past and they did fine...not sure what the problem is that a lot of people are talking about?

Pics? Crazy...seems like some of us have no luck with em at all and others are able to keep em like any other ray. Do you have an auto drip by chance?

No auto drip, but I use a pelican whole house water filtration system, change ~70% of the water weekly and use a sump that is 1/3 the size of the tank.

i think all rays are about the same to keep its just flower tiger and retic are all wild caught and are imported in bad condition once you get them feeding well it should all be good
