so I can add tap water straight to my tank with my python? I have one but I usually add tap to the bucket, then water condition and then in the tank it goes. could I add water condition at the same time as the python fills the tank?

I add the prime first then I start putting in the new water...

I usually add the conditioner while the water is going in the tank. Been doing it like that ever since i stopped using buckets to fill the tank. I hear there are some very good benefits to aged water but honestly I dont have the space and maybe the patience.

We are running 10 tanks at the moment and have our own water filtration system to produce tank water. (This is necessary because of the state of our local tap water...ammonia .25 TDS 460) The water is tested regularly and the data is used to determine when water changes are needed.

You hear a lot about hormones and such in the water but IME this has more of a bearing on breeding than it does on growth rates.

Personally I just don't like the idea of using tap water directly and then dropping in chemical additives and conditioners. I do my best to keep crap like that out of my tanks. My methouds worked very well for 25 years or so. I see no reason to switch now.

I've always been on well water, but admittedly, I've never tested it. I just go straight from the tap to the tank. No conditioner or chemicals. I don't like the idea of adding chemicals to the tank either.

I've had some people tell me this way isn't very good for fish, but I don't seem to have many problems with health and survival. The problems I did have in the past were purely an issue of overstocking more than anything.

These chemicals keep your fish from dyeing. Lots of chems can be added to a tank for different purposes. Calcium for coral, Iron for plant growth just for 2.
