Happy New Year!

Look what I made

I made a practice dollhouse, scale 1/12, I made it out of cardboard. Now with all that done I plan to build something similar out of thin plywood.Made of cardboard.jpg

Chicago is still growing!

Happy New Year! Very cool miniature house build. Looks like attention has shifted away from the fish a bit? I haven't been too active either over the last 3-4 months with no real excuse. I am finally making progress on the cabinet on my 900 gallon system so I can get it started up. Here's a pic of the canopy, cabinet will be of the same construction.

I am once again apologizing for the long time between posts. I still think about this place often though. I'm still plenty capable but the mobility has been declining to where I really cant move around on my feet at all... All I need is a helper and I could get everything in great shape.

So right now the 519 gallon, Posh Cleveland, still sits empty because I just can't stand upright anymore for the what the task demands.

What I want to do is set the Cleveland up for fish and still keep the 890 gallon Mighty Chicago set up the way it is now, minus the fish... Just a boatload of plants and snails and use it as filter/water change vessel and use the Hard Working Akron as a transfer tank.

The tops of all three of my tanks is about the same, around 6 feet so yeah, standing up is required! So I need a helper and or a new contraption. I can still stand up a little bit, I just can't stand up and do work with my hands anymore. I'm still kickin butt at the Community Garden! I made trellises over the winter. We already got seeds in the ground and sprouts coming up. Look how happy she is with her trellis. Me Too!Jamilla with trellis.jpg

Love the natural trellis! Really hate to hear that your ability to stand and work is declining. I'm sure I can't imagine the struggle and I know I would be extremely frustrated. I was hoping that the New York City would become a reality. Is there any hope for improvement in your physical condition?

Well guess what? I might have overstated that decline thing. As we age we all decline but having a spinal cord injury makes it even much more of a thing.

So yesterday after I posted, I removed yet another huge pile of water lettuce. The entire surface of the Chicago was covered in water lettuce except for the 8 open water columns created by the airs tones. The hardest part is just climbing up and down the basement stairs.

It seems I can still get up on that step stool to do some work... Watch for more good things to happen under my Command!More and more Water Lettuce.jpg

That is encouraging. You don't need to remind me about the "as we age we all decline" thing - I know all about it! Between a bone-on-bone right knee and arthritis, I'm moving pretty slow these days. Thankful for what I've got though!

I took a few pictures of the Chicago after the Water Lettuce removal, the light can get in now. The lettuce blocked so much light that there was a lot of shedding from the Java moss, it's kinda like a floating mulm along the aquarium floor, left side, front. My two plecos are really getting large, by eye, they look 14" long to me. When they get on the front glass it makes it real easy to get an accurate measurement.

The pothos roots are super cool in the tank!

Blue Gourami, I have 5 of them and I was hoping they would get bigger and more showy.

And my Cat Daddy Babies...

I want to get a swarm of Bleeding Heart Tetras!

Me Too, Sassy Frassy! The problem is that I waited too long and there is NO way I could build it by myself. I have ALL the materials and all the tools needed but what I would need is a solid helper. If someone wanted to help me build it, I would give it or donate to them or somebody... it would be good to get all that plywood and glass out of my garage.

On to other things, my outdoor fish pool pond over wintered successfully, a whole bunch of swimmers in there.

Good AFTERNOON!
