AC vs. Whisper: Why Whisper sucks.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i got an ac 50 0n my 20gallon community, and she runs like a champ, plus you dont have to waste a ton of cash on over priced cartriges, just rinse out the spongs and get new carbon now and then, definatly one of my favorite HOB filters!

I just ditch the carbon and run more media and some purigen. I only use carbon if the water is cloudy.

I am probably the only one, or one of the very few, that love Whisper filters. They seem to work best for me. I have a Whisper 30-60 on my 20 gallon tank. I have 2 fantail goldfish in there and the Whisper keeps the water crystal clear and the water parameters in check. I actually only have to clean my tank every few months as the whisper keeps my water perfect. I couldn't acheive that with bio wheels or ACs. I clean my tank every 2 weeks, even though I could let it go longer. I replace my filter cartridges monthly and never ever have to clean my sponge. Heck, even with so much gph, I can let it overflow around the tube when the cartridge gets full. I would still have enough gph for my tank. I will always love Whisper. But that is just my opinion.

Thats because your monsters are Fantail Goldfish... they need no water movement in the tank which works perfectly for Whisper Filters

If the water has a current in it the Fan tails will be plastered against the glass begging for a Whisper! They gladly give up water clarity over having to swim with their deformed tails
