Im going off the assumption that he goes with one AC as I suggested. Two is a hell of a lot better more sponge more flow more capacity. But if he only gets once AC I would suggest he had something small as a back up.Bderick67;3435953; said:So then why not two ACs? Why take up tank space with an ugly sponge filter that provides very little circulation or mechanical filtration?

how do you figure that?jschall;3436029; said:IMO. So much easier to customize media in a canister.

with the ac110 you dont have individual baskets to fill, but rather one 4L(ish) basket that you simply layer the media in. same capacity, and easier, if not just as easy to customize your media.

I still think canisters are better, though.

Emperor's cheaper though. I like my emperor+canister configuration. Emperor has the wet/dry biowheels with basic mechanical filtration, canister does additional mechanical and lots of polyfil and purigen. Was cheap, too.bitteraspects;3436073; said:lol. you cant "customise" the media in an emperor. your only option is those "fill your own media" basket things (the grey ones), and even those have 0 media volume. the design of the ac110 is similar to a canister because it pushes the water from the bottom, up through all the media in the basket. its pretty much a hang on canister.
emperor is maybe $10-20 cheaperjschall;3436115; said:Emperor's cheaper though. I like my emperor+canister configuration. Emperor has the wet/dry biowheels with basic mechanical filtration, canister does additional mechanical and lots of polyfil and purigen. Was cheap, too.
Bderick67;3436088; said:How do you know what would be necessary? He did not provide stock, tank dimensions, type of tank set up nor planned maintenance schedule. The OP only asked what people would recommend giving two specific filter choices.
IMO more is not always better, and alot more info would be needed to say what is necessary.
