i bought mine from petsmart at full price..didn't know there was a discount on that onesite for 45...but mine makes clicking noises when i turn it on full flow rate..lol i cant fix it, it dont make the clicking noise if its in the middle.
I recently bought a 110 and a 70 after see all the good reveiws on here, and mine will not restart after water changes ever. I have to take them apart everytime . i have only had them for a month now and allready have had to take them apart 4 times each. It has lengthened my maintenance schedule alot. I should have just stayed with marineland
the lifting media holder is caused by the sponge being very clogged. what size tank? how many fish? mine does this every 3-4 days because of the fish load. I rinse it with every water once a week and just like you I don't need the bb on the sponge because the tank also has wet dry sump filtering it.
1. The sponge has air in it, causing it to float. Squeeze the air out of the sponge.
2. The sponge is so clogged already that water can't pass through it. If this is the case, it's doing it's job, your tank is just dirty. Clean the sponge. I try and clean them every two weeks, but I feed a LOT.
I agree, it's either defective or you're being modest about how much gunk it's getting out of the water
I had one on my 75g with my Paratilapia Buttikoferi ages ago, worked like a charm but if he started digging a LOT i had to clean the filter every other day or so (There were some corners I couldn't vacuum with the way the rocks were).
I find that if I over fill the basket a little so that I need to push it down the media will then push the holder into the notches better so that it catches just fine. I use pot scrubbers in mine so they can be squeezed a little. The water flow is not effected so everything stays where it should. Try just a little more media and see how it works. Just a thought
