ac110, i'm dissapointed

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i run a combination of AC's and Bio Wheels and have no complaitnes on either. I have a 55 gallon marine tank with an AC110 and a bio wheel 350 BOTH run quiet and keep the water clear:headbang2. I have been using AC's for a few years and havent had any problems or complaints:D. Try returning and go from there.

The flow on the AC110s is so much that it will push the media baskit up, but especially if the foam is clogged. I use some tape on either side of the lid or set an airpimp on top fo the lid. with this small fault, this is a solid filter and it will run strong for many years.

I don't understand what the problem is with the AC filters. They have always performed well for me. They work great as a mechanical filter, and yet some people complain that the basket is lifting the lid. That's an indication that the foam block is filled with gunk and needs to be cleaned. It's doing it's intended job, maybe i am missing something here i don't know.

Never had any problems with mine. I run a ehiem canister and dual ac 50's on my tank. I can tell by the polyfil I use in the hobs that the ac's ARE working well. I run in order from bottom to top... course sponge, polyfil in a media bag, and ceramic rings on top and I've never had a lifting problem.

That or they dont have the media baskets all the way down below the notches. I'm satisfied with my new one I receieved but the first one was a pos!

so after reading all the hype on the ac110 filter,. i decided to go out and get one. i've had it running for about 2 weeks now, and really am not that impressed with my purchase.

the first thing that bothers me is that the media/holder seems to rise up on the right side and push the lid up, which worries me that it could keep going and start overflowing. i see that it has a little notch there, but is pretty small and doesn't do a thing. i trashed the carbon insert and it helped a little, but still does it.

also, when i close the lid completely, the noise just annoys me. but when i just rest it on top, it is fine. i close it the right way, and want some sort of covering to prevent evaporation, but it's just overly noisy in my opinion.

it does seem to help a lot on clarity and filtration, but these couple of things are pissing me off a little. for a hob with such excellent reviews, i want perfection! do they require a little brake in period to get settled and good to go, or is this just go along with the filter. it's on a 110 with a wet/dry as well.
take it back and get your money back and buy something else. ive had nothing but problems with there product (personally i think they are junk) good luck though hope all works out for ya

i use ac110 and i love them easy to maintane...never had any issues with noise... everything or lifting...
