I aquired a 110 gallon acrylic 5' x 18" x 2' there are small cracks on the outside looks like from the stress from water pressure. Anyways could I use a heat gun to smooth the little cracks out?

I would try the heat gun idea. You might weaken the acrylic. The best thing to do is to bond another piece of acrylic over the crack.

Most of what i've read says that gently heating acrylic to repaair minor cracking works well. They cauton not to heat too fast as it will cause blistering and or distortion.

what about that weld on stuff they use to seal with?? with like a needle and a lil bottle.

well the heat gun didn't work it made it worse. :(
Are they actual cracks or crazing ? Do you have any pictures ?

i had a 125 sitting out in my shed for about a year.. today i went to polish it up so i my gf could plant it.... it had some of the fine stress fractures before i started.. by the time i was done you would have to really do some searching to find an area without cracks...
i also kissed it slowly with the heatgun which also did not work...

oh well.. atleast i can make overflows and tops out of it...

heat gun will make it worse because what you are doing is heating up the old glue that is bonding the pieces together and making it weak and it will crazy even more, would need to see pics to say what to do with it.

I'm at a loss for why anyone would think melting any part of your tank would be a good idea.

You'd be much better off using rubbing compound and a buffer.
