Acrylic starting to separate?

Well it’s glued…..(kinda). The seam had opened up so much that the glue was just running out of it. So I had to work in stages but very quickly. It’s got some bubbles but once I do a permanent fix I’ll trim out the entire tank, so the trim will hide the ugly. It’s holding water, while the pool is cycling some aquarium water and getting up to temp.
The pool is temporary, I ordered som 1” x 24” triangular acrylic rods to do a permanent fix on the inside.

I’m going to leave the Bessie clamps on until I take it completely down.

ADawson23 heck yeah man! Was worried for ya today lol… looks like u did a pretty good job also due to the circumstances. Seam re adhered well. Glad u were able to get a pool up so quick and already have more materials on the way to reinforce it. Well done man. U got nerves of steel for fillin her back up, i commend u.

I appreciate it, I figured that I had the pool up and running so after 5 hours of the glue setting I’d fill the tank back up let all the water from last night and today cycle through so everyone had some good clean water to swim in for a little while.

Everything is looking good so far (knock on wood), I think I may let the tank run all night and tomorrow until I get home. When I get home I’ll probably drain 50% out of the pool, then drain the entire tank into the pool, then fill with regular water to my desired height move everyone over and then start the aquarium break down.

wednesday13 is there a possibility of installing the triangular rod in the vertical position on the inside of the tank. I’m unsure if I’ll get any help to flip it on its face to do the install.

Yup, will glue in just like the seam u just did with the solvent. Hardest part might be finding the right “pressure” without being able to clamp it. Should b able to come up with something to hold it in there aside from tape like wedging in broom handles to hold the triangle rod tight. should do the trick to get a cple good seals for reinforcement. Bubbles are usually caused by not enough pressure, too much pressure results in dry joints also… fine line to get it right. I think u made a good seal already tho, so even if u do get some bubbles these new/additional pieces are more so for reinforcement and will help keep everything together u did today.

Thank you for everything. Now for placing and sealing the rod, should I lightly place the rod in the corner, then add the weld-on and finally apply a little more pressure for the bonding/drying time.

Correct, the glue will flow easier with the rod lightly in place ensuring theres no air pockets or dry spots… once its full of glue, apply a bit more pressure for the bonding/drying time. Same thing u did today with the clamps. Some builders actually put pins in between the seams, fill with #4, then pull the pins out once its tacky and clamp down.

Wow that is insane how fast that spot opened up. Even crazier that you held it with a clamp and were able to glue it back together under those conditions lol!! Great job
