Recently I found out that Tenecor makes 360g tanks (8L x 3W x 2H) using 1/2" acrylic sheets ? Am I the only one who thinks that this will be prone to some serious bowing (best case)?
(I was trying to find a thread addressing acrylic thickness requirements based on tank dimensions with no luck...if someone can point me in right direction will be great)

There will be more deflection with 1/2" then 3/4". They would not make a tank with a lifetime warranty if there were concerns with the tank failing.

It is probably made out of Lexan not regular acrylic. I used some in my sump and it does not bow whatsoever. They claim you can throw a brick at it and it won't break too.

Lexan is a polycarbonate sheet which is 250 times stronger than glass by the way. I can't see them just using regular acrylic (Plexiglas, etc.) for building their fish tanks especially since they are expensive to begin with.

I seriously doubt that's the case. They only mention Lexan as being used for tops for the "premium" series.

The thickness of the acrylic is determined by the height of the tank. I've seen 2' tall tanks that are 3/8 acrylic, so 1/2 is probably more than enough.

hmm...only factor I've ever seen mentioned is the height. If the top is properly braced than the length should be completely irrelevant.
