activated carbon for tannins?

I can let you know after this weekend I guess. I am still leeching tannis and am switching to purigen this weekend if I can get out to pick some up.
I will look into purigen, its just that my lfs around here don't carry it and really suck at ordering stuff but I got one that might do an okay job so I will try them

i know its been said already but carbon will remove the color from the water. the chemistry of the water will remain the same though i believe.
i refrain from using carbon on some tanks because it removes that color.

the tannins do also wear off after a while...why not just leave it in until all tannins are leeched from the wood ?
Seems not too many people are fond of the tannins and black water setups. I personally love it, and so do the fish.
Main reason I want to get rid of it is because tannins filled water paired up with a lack of proper lighting has it to where I can just barely see from the front of the tank to the back. Lighting fixes are already underway and all my other tanks have crisp clear water, its annoying to have your main show tank being the cloudy one.
I have nothing against blackwater setups, I just prefer crisp clear water. Personal preference really
If you are that cloudy then only water changes will help. I had a slight tinge to my water then added the carbon and it helped slightly but really only water changes drastically attacks it.
