Which of the bichirs, besides the senegal, is the most active?

based on experience, my ornate is my most active bichir next is my albino then delhezi. my endli is the least active, acts like a driftwood

My Delhezi is very active. Its kind of like watching a banded sausage cruise the tank. My P.E.Endlicheri on the other hand rarely moves, but when he does its awe inspiring. I've heard keeping large numbers of bichers helps timid bichers come out and play. Anyone care to back this statement up?

It doesn't have to be large numbers even one or two can work bringing out the timid bichir.
I had a del once he'd bury himself into the gravel or even hide ia a fake root
then I added a pair of P.polli's to the tank and the del became mr out and about-Anne

In my experience...Polypterus palmas polli is at least as active (and often more active) than even Polypterus senegalus.

senegal are the most active.then, its a delhezi in my opinion and experience.i had a palmas poli and it never came out.i have had 2x ornates.my larger one never came out and i've now bought a smaller 4" one approx a couple of weeks ago and hes much more active than my other ornate.

i think senegal is the only definately out and about always from my and other peoples experiences.i think it pays to look in the tank at the lfs when you are buying bichirs and take time to see which bichir(if any) in the tank is most active.ask if you can see the bichirs being fed.see if any come out for food.

Though I definitely feel there are certain species famous for their inactivity-my Endli like others mimicks driftwood most of the time-I do feel a lot depends on the individual fish, tankmates, frequency of feeds etc. I had a bloody inactive Delhezi until I let my Florida Gar go-very active now. I also had a palmas polli which was very quiet (but have kept pollis in the past which were always on the go).

i agree with klipsh, my ornate and delzi are super active, palmas is next with senegals. my endli and lapardei are like logs most of the time.

My senegal swims around like crazy and my ornate just sits there. I'll probably look into getting a del and see how it is.
