Active Catfish for a 55 gallon???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How about a Decorus? I love mine. He is pretty active during the day and he really stirs up the sand at night to keep it nice and clean. I never see crap at the bottom of my tank. Mine's about 8" now and I think they top off around 14".

i really like my Syndontis erupterus.....He is 6" and still gaining girth....Active, fearless and not aggressive at all. Fairly small mouth so as not to risk smaller fish.....My favorite cat yet!

Hi Chef ken, hows the culinary world??? Lol just passed my serv-safe test...
Anyway back on topic, I do like synos, but lfs is out of them till Jan. 31. I may pick up 2 syno eurputis and the other kinds. Jurenese are nice, may hold off on them until I get a larger tank. I don't want to purchase a fish that will grow too large and then not be able to rehome him right away... the flagtail is an exception because they grow slow.

I know Emmons!! I used to go there a bunch of times, but have stop few years back. I may go soon, if you recall did they have flagtails, black bar silverdollars, or redhooks?
I am going to be working in an Italian restaraunt and Pastry shop in 2012, but this year its all about experience.

I picked up the real sweet Red Hook they had just a few days ago! almost 5"! They do have a nice 3" flagtail! Common Silver dollars only......They have the nicest plants! They are pricey but quaility stuff!

My vote goes to Porthole Catfish, and their prettier and slightly smaller cousin the Flagtail Porthole Catfish.

Normal Portholes grow to about 5", Flagtails about 4". They don't hide, they hang out in groups, they're reasonably active, they're hardy, and they look neat. I love my Flagtail Porthole Cats, and I plan on buying back the full grown normal Porthole I traded into the LFS like a year ago when I needed to slim down my fish, Now I have room for it again.

I should get a good deal on it, because I'm well known to the guy I usually deal with, I already bought it once and grew it out, and then traded it in cheaply only to be sad every time I saw that no one had taken it home. Wow, I went off on a tangent. Oops.
