My ruby red isnt very active and stays in one spot of the tank. The only time I seem him move is when a guppy swims near him then he just chases it away. It did eat several guppies but it doesnt eat any frozen food except brine shrimp. Is there anything I can do so it swims around more? My exodons were a LOT more interesting than this fish.

exodons are known to be much more active. the only way's to get your piranha more active ( bot guranteed to work )
dim the lights ( floating plants or black electrical tape around the florsent light bulb )
black water abstract
put the tank somewere that people walk by or like living room somewere busy so the piranha gets used to people
provide placed to hide ( drift wood is great )
adjust the temp so its a little higher
Powerhead for more water movement

I am going to sell it because I found out I wont be able to provide a bigger tank for it because I am going to college. I also want something more active.
if you just got it then it'll take sometime for it to really get use to the new surrounding.
you can keep it in a 40g breeder for life if that's a size you can work with.
if you want something more active right out of the bag and stay small then go get some mollies or convicts.

However, we all know if we were to put one exodon in a tank like people keep refering to a solo RBP it'd be lame too.
id still rather watch a group of 10 exodons than a group of 10 RPB. (and i have)

I think you guys were right about it taking time because when the lights came on he was swimming around and he comes up to the tank when I get close. I am trying to post pics but I am not sure how to do it.
what kind of camera do you have?
if its a point and shoot digital, our best bet is to use the "sport" setting. then just sit next to the tank for a while until it comes out.
