A good friend of mine(my lead guitar player) had acupuncture for believe it or not, to quit smoking. He hasn't had a smoke for 4 years:headbang2. He said it worked great--it did the trick. I don't know how or why..but it worked for him.

Peace,
Chris

Something like smoking respond really well to placebo. Give that the cravings are all mental after the first 2-6 weeks.

Had it done did nothing.

Having quit smoking without as you say a placebo...I do not think the cravings are only mental after 2 weeks.

Anyway, I use accupuncture for allergies. It has been a literal miracle for me. Just research it a little. It has been practised for centuries. It has been absolutley proven to help with pain management, migraines, allergies and a host of other medical conditions. Try it...ya might not be able to live without it!!

how exactly has it been "absolutley proven"? i must have passed over the results of those double-blind experiments.

OK scat can't say as I have read any scientific studies proving such. However, accupuncture is used as an adjunctive therapy with most pain teams and some hospice centers for pain that is refractory to meds or for people who wish not to be on chronic pain medications. I can do a pubmed search tomorrow at work. If I turn up some actual scientific study I will be happy to post it. Do you read all of the scientific Journals or just a few?

I participate in endurance sports (triathlons, marathons, etc.) and I have found acupuncture to be extremely effective in both aiding me with injuries as well as preventive maintenance.

sounds good!

i don't read any journals, everything i read came from the internets. i'd love to be convinced it works but i can't help being a skeptic.

Haven't had acupuncture done to me specifically, although I have had other stuff somewhat like it done. From what I've learned, it's usually pretty effective as long as you have it done by somewhat who knows what they're doing.

Thanks all....

Thought about it...still not sure about it. Not that I don't think it works, but all those needles...*shivers* I hear it doesn't hurt, but still...*shivers*

I just checked. They are still trying to put together a double blind method with a valid placebo.
