Hey guys, Ive just told my mate that I've spent around £800 on my aquarium.. So that was an estimate, I decided to add up everything that I could think off from me getting my 30 gallon to my 180 gal right now. I added probably about 20-30 different sums together of literally everything I could think I had spend on aquaria in the last 8 month in this hobby. Before I say what I'm going to say, I'm 15, with no source of income.. I started my journey with me 30 gal by selling my PLAYSTATION (something we should all do :D) and spend the money on the tank which got the ball rolling. So my total was get ready.. £826. HOLY HELL! Where have I gotten this money from?! Haha, this is pretty incredible, considering my set up is worth around £300.... (second hand).. I would like to hear your stories as I'm sure there are people with much more than this.
Americans :) ::--
826.00 GBP = 1,332.04 USD

Once you start adding everything up... it is scary. I purchased a reef ready 125gall for $100. free stand and canopy. Came with cheap HOB filters. After $3,000 , it was all set-up ready to go. Re-did the stand and canopy. Custom made sump, mag return pump, fluval g6, eshopps wet/dry, 3x vortech pumps, 2x in-line heaters, 2x AC 110s.... and it's not even salt water!! nor does this include my stock or the electric bill!!!

yeah its really crazy. I have to say though how's the fluval g6? they seem really expensive for what they do..?

I feel like I do it relatively on the cheap for going with all quality equipment that will last for years. I'll do my 75 gallon as an example:

Brand new Tank $75
Built a stand $100
2 ac110's $110
250 watt jager $25
Glass canopy $30
Coralife 48" dual bulb light $80
Rena400 and air line and stones $50
Pfs and a terra cotta pot $10

Total $480

Eh.....it's a drop in the bucket compared to a lot of other hobbies.

I used to ride motorcycles. I had 20k worth of bikes at one point.
I used to design and build competition car stereo systems. My last amplifier was 1k, and the whole system cost $4k for just the hardware.
I also whitewater kayak, and a new boat is about a grand.....and they break eventually and you need a few different ones for each use (creeking, play boating, surfing, river running, etc...).
I also used to dh MTn bike, and a decent rig for that is about 2k. Plus gear.....

Overall, fish keeping isn't that bad. A crazy monster tank could be a few grand, but it's not that bad in the scope of things.

Yeah i spend too much, im sure my one tank is 3500 bucks deep at least including stock. NOW food is another story. Every month i spend around a hundy at the lfs.

Im prob around 3500 also
