It seems like every time I try catching minnows in fast moving water I get at least one of these guys by accident.

And to really get a scale of how small this little fish is,

This was the one I caught a few months ago with a 1-2 months later picture. It has since put on another inch in length since that big picture was taken. The one I got today looks very similar.

I'm now at 2 wild plecos and one common pleco (that is my 12ish inch monster).

The adults don't look like what y'all posted so here is a video I made this spring while testing out my camera. Video isn't the best because I was still figuring out menus and such.

This one looks an awful lot like an L95 Orange Cheek.

They definitely do not turn into those.

They don't get as thick dorsally, fin rays curve and fork early on rather than bend before forking at the end. The spots are smaller and more abundant and the markings show a large variety of patterns but not so much color. Sometimes they will be all spots and other times the spots will be faded with dark bands. But we also have other species as well. I know there have been some studies done on the river, I'll see if I can dig some of them up and possibly find species names.

The picture was a more mature version with fewer spots. Here's another example of an L095 Orange Cheek for comparison:
