Ah, remembered I had these pictures.

I'm sure we have all kinds swimming around since this is a extremely thermally stable tropical river in a college town.

The orange dorsal spines aren't really that color. It is from the sunlight.

So after looking at the peckoltia genus on planetcatfish (which is really cool, I'll have to look around some more), how big to L061's get? The fish in the picture is missing some physiological features but if there is something that can be confused with it and gets bigger than 5 inches? That is a very likely candidate.

Most people that have "fancy" plecos know that they can sell them and get some money out of them so it is kinda unlikely anyone will go throw a L95 orange check in a river:screwy:

I think this is what you have

What you posted is the closest suggestion so far but I'm not sure. They don't list morphological qualifiers and the picture is really grainy/blurry on my computer right now (on the netbook with a slow connection).
The listed size fits. They don't typically get over 12 inches.
Least viable? No husbandry info? This was the first fish species I EVER had lay eggs, but it may be just that nobody has tried yet.
Temperature tolerance for all of mine have ranged 60-90F in aquarium settings even though the San Marcos River never varies from the low 70s. My bigger one is currently in water that is dipping into the 50s at night but warm up to tolerable temps during the day. While I've never done an official study on them, I have been keen on what they can and cannot tolerate in both wild and domestic settings. I also knew someone who did their thesis dissertation on their impact of the local ecology (hence the reason the local municipalities are trying to get rid of them).

Still gotta say.... Nice pic and nice pick up. Would u be willing to ship a small baby to Cali? Lol
If I could get it past TPWD, sure. Unfortunately I'd need a special license and I'm not willing to risk my lifetime hunting and fishing licenses to go around, especially over an invasive species.

putting what they are L wise to one said they are beautiful fish you have and they look to be growing up a treat

They definitely are fun to raise. If I could get a really long, shallow tank I would definitely set it up specifically for plecos. Something about 9 inches deep, 12 inches wide and very long with very fast water flow starting 1/3 of the way from the end would be ideal....Hmmm, those dimensions would be a cheap, easy DIY tank.

Instead of a tank, maybe a kiddie pool or 100 gallon stock tank/tub (water for barn animals), could work?
