Hello, in 3 weeks I will get a few pairs of big cichlids(V. maculicauda, zonata, regani etc.... I would like to ask how best to add them to the existing tanks, where several large cichlids already live. How to reduce their aggressiveness towards new fish in the beginning?

How big is the tank and what cichlids are in there
I have 6 350litres+ tanks, biggest is 320x60x80cm. I have there catfishes and Hoplarchus pair, Fenestrata pair, argentea pair and labiatus pair. Second tanks is 1200l. There I have Buttikoferi pair, Synspilus pair, JD pair and oscar pair.

Buttikoferi and labiatus are overall known to be very agresisve you could try mixing up the decorations and put them in at night but even so it’s risky keep a close eye on it and it may work but if not you must have a backup tank

The backup tank is not a problem, next week I will have a new 540l tank. My point is to prevent skirmishes.

Only the 1200l is big enough for a mix. The 350l would be OK for a single fish of most of those species but you’re going to have Battles, ruined fins and and likely loses

I have 2 1000+l tank. The biggest is 1500+-. I'm just trying to avoid losing. I know that adult cichlids have a problem integrating into the community

A 300g/1200l with 3-5 full grown cichlids of the types you mention is going to be full.

trust me I’ve tried to shoehorn communities of these fish before the results are always the same around 2 years the community implodes and your left with one or a pair

I used to have over 20 adult cichlids in this aquarium for about 4 years. It all worked. Although I couldn't add any fish because it was killed right away, the fish didn't have any disputes. Unfortunately, after some mystery, I got a disease in the aquarium and I lost all the fish during the week.
