;)Nice. I suggest when you get them you put them in a bucket and drip acclimate them SLOWLY. That high ph would scare me to throw them right in from the bag. I just use a piece of airline and tie a knot in it to slow it down to a slow drip.

Truthfully, after letting the bag sit in tank water for 15 minutes, I dumped the L-264 right in (shipping water not included). But then again, I started this thread after worrying about it acclimating :D

But I plan to acclimate these guys the right way (maybe not drip method but will slowly add tank water over a course of 15-20 mins before adding them to tank).

Whoa. Wait a minute. We are back on the original topic.:ROFL:
We really did go on a tangent eh?lol
Anyway, I would really take your time and go slooowwww. Your ph is scary high IMO when it comes to introducing fish. I believe I have read somewhere that fish (ideally) should'nt have more than +/- .2 fluctuation in ph in 24 hrs. Obviously I dont mean to acclimate them for 5 days, but just to give you an idea. I actually believe I read that on the bottle of a product used to adjust your PH but I cannot remember for sure. I would tell you to wait for someone else to reply on this topic but since we are the only two that have posted in three pages you might be waiting a while!

And now to get back off topic again: I'm pretty jealous over the L-14 partner! That is still on my "to get" list.

:ROFL::D

So you think I should give them a full hour or two to slowly acclimate? I didn't before because I wanted to get them out of the shipping water ASAP. I'll do it right this time and just add about 5 mL of tank water every couple minutes. Should I run an airpump/airstone in the tupperware/bucket they'll be acclimating in? If so, should I leave it on the whole time they acclimate or just turn it on briefly every 15 mins or so to make sure it has enough oxygen?

and yeah I don't expect anyone else to respond to this thread, you and I are the only ones reading it anymore :grinno: Thanks for all the input.

I should have pictures up by Saturday of the new arrivals :D I can't wait!

I have never worried about an airstone. I took about an hour to "drip" acclimate my largest L-114. Again, I believe there are more knowledgable people than me on this subject. But I think an hour should be sufficient. One thing I do is leave a lid on the bucket so the temp stays constant between the tank and the bucket.

Hello.....Hello...Hello.....
Is there anybody out there?lol

I went back and was looking at your full tank shot on the first page. It looks like you have your heater under a piece of driftwood. You may want to move it so the plecos dont try to make a home next to the heater.

Hey someone else is here!!!:headbang2And holy moly you guys have chatted it up!!!

I totally agree with wingate2581 about the acclimatization rate and method! Just go slow, your fish will have plenty of oxygen. If you are that worried about it you can add the airstone but you shouldnt need it.

Hello :D

Yeah I'll acclimate these guys slowly tonight.

I realized something last night....my pleco eats better than I do :irked: It gets fresh zuchini and fresh market shrimp (first time last night, it liked it :D), meanwhile I'm eating fast food and frozen dinners...somethings not right!

I can relate. Mine were eating tilapia last night while I was eating frozen french bread pizza:D. Wait until it gets 10-11" and is slurping down a whole shrimp. That sight never gets old.

Hello Abarilot!

They're here :D Mini-monsters! These guys are tiny hahaha, wasn't really expecting them to be so small (even though they are the size I paid for).

I tested the pH of the shipping water and its high too (i used regular pH (not high range ph) test and got a 7.6 reading (highest it goes to). So I'm only going to acclimate them for 30 minutes (not including time bag sat in tank to adjust temp). 10 minutes left!

edit: err, not sure why picture isn't showing up in thread like usual. Guess you'll have to click it.

I hope my LSN isn't big enough to eat them..
