View attachment 468073Mine is not shy at all... and he is about a foot.. they seem to grow slow.. i have had him since a baby about 3 years ...by this age they lose all their white spots.. well most of them... i still see a couple...lol Happy Birthday..

hikari pellets...frozen silversides... cooked shrimp... and massivore pellets

Adonis are awesome plecos... i love mine.

Yep ,I agree.
I say Adonis are the most Pleco of the Pleco's, the embodiment of the Amazon.

But you have to realize, they, although grow slow, get very big.
2' without problem, and well fed and taken care of,
they will become 3'. And a big digger with a territory, spikes, everything.
Mine I bought at 2" and is now 6". In 6 months.

Yep ,I agree.

2' without problem, and well fed and taken care of,
they will become 3'. And a big digger with a territory, spikes, everything.

i have yet to see over a foot size in aquarium .... i am sure there are some.. but i have not seen any... yes they are awesome.... brave plecos..

I used to have some smaller ones (up to 8 inches) and they were always very shy, spent the majority of their time hiding. However I just got a 14" the other day and although he sits under one piece of wood the majority of the time, he'll come out almost automatically when I put food in there.

i hope you can post pics.. yes they due tend to be alot less shy as the mature...

Yeah you're right. I haven't seen any bigger then 1' in captivity.
And there are more embodiments of the Amazon, of course.
