I teach 5th grade and my students thinks it is the cool thing without realizing the reality of when you hurt or kill someone. Two weeks ago we did poems and one of my kids did one on shoting and killing-I really don't think he meant what he put he just wanted to fit in with the others-unfortunatley it is the responsibility of the parent, where I teach the parents are never around (economy and all) both work 24/7-so who's taking care of the kids TELEVISION!! That becomes their role model and with no supervision and all that free time that is how a lot of kids get into gangs.

That is sad to hear I hope he can be guided in the right way and not lose himself to violence like so many good kid's can. I think its great your a teacher and help kid's learn and educate them I just hope thing's work out good for this child.

Thanks, I love my job. My wife says I take it to heart and need to leave it at the school. But I see these kids as my own-and they are all great kids-too bad I can't be there with them all the time. A year ago a mom caught me at the gym and was in tears-her son (who I never had any trouble with) got in drugs and gangs. I talked to him but I think cause of peer pressure my words weren't able to reach.

Peer Pressure is really tough I saw a lot of kid's I grew up with pulled down that dark alley of drug's and it's scary. But I love when I hear a teacher with the passion for there job and love for the kid's not to many teacher's out there care like you, if only you could share that with all teacher's thing's might be alot better.

Another thing why people aren't afraid to do violent act's is our penalty system is too easy on them death row inmate's who kill and rape women, kids, etc.. appeal it so we pay for another 20 year's for them in jail. We need to stiffen penalties and violence and crime will go down. Like identity theft if they catch you cut your hands off for it how many people will try to steal identity if they know they'll lose there hand's? If you rape someone death by hanging no question's asked after your found guilty your hung see how many women get raped after that.
