Unbelievable this is even a consideration, or a thread. Of course you do not approach her or expect her to pay any portion of the repair. It doesn't happen if you don't ask for her assistance. This is why roadside assistance exists.

I would do exactly this thank her for the help and all let her know what happened and be like that's the cost of the damage ill pay for it don't worry about it but if you'd like to donate I'd be happy but I'm not forcing you. But if it happened to me I'd be furious regardless! But why didn't you go and buy a new battery?
