Hi. I grew my African Arowana from 3" to now about 26" (i.e. over 2ft). Took about 2yrs+. During the earlier days, I fed it mainly Hikari algae wafers and some dried worms, cos I believe it is actually more a filter feeder.
Now, I feed it mainly dried worms, though I guess since it mixes with my Koi outdoors, it also eats Koi food...It is a very hardy fish and so far, hasn't been that aggressive even with my smaller fish...The current one actually jumped out of my fibreglass tank twice, but I managed to salvage it in both cases. It lost some scales, but grew them back over time....
Sadly, I actually had 2 afros grown from about 3", but lost 1 after it jumped out of my fibreglass tank, cos my pump died when I was away...It was about 1.5ft then....I didn't make it in time to salvage this one, cos it probably was out of the water overnight...
Just a short video of my koi and african arowana (when it was around 1.5ft), about 8 mths back...When I was shifting my fishes from a smaller FGT to a bigger one...
