I love keeping aro's, but I think the African aro is just an ugly fish. A LFS had a few and they had a hard time selling them. They were cheap to at about 20-30 bucks.

I wish I lived in Hawaii. At least as far as Afro Aros go...

Yeah, that's a good point. I'm happy in the midwest as far as that goes. Too cold in the winter for most exotic fish to survive, so pretty much everything is legal.

I have a 12" Af aro. I don't know if I can get a good pic of him or not. I keep 1/4 of his tank in direct sunlight so there's alway something for this filter feeder to screen. That tank is pretty green and I usualy only see him as a quick glance or shadow.

Any picture would be welcome.
A glance would do for me.
Want to see how they look. :)
Thanks.

they just dont have the arowana "face"- nasty and proud. plus the barbels arent that defined. if ever i keep one, it would only be to supliment a collection, i guess

don't see them often here. very difficult to get your hands on one. :)

but Oddball that's one cool AF you've got yourself.

please :repost: with clearer picture. :clap

I don't want to change his environment until he starts developing adult head features. These fish are difficult to raise with many succumbing to SAD (Sudden Aro Death). When I transfer him to the 360, at around 15-16", I'll shoot some pics without all the algae.
