African Arowana

How big do they usually get??

Just under 40". Here's a wild-caught aro with a shoe in the pic for size comparison.

I had 4 of them. I bought them when they were 6" and they were the most awesome aro I have ever had. They will eat anything that is small enought to get in there small mouth. I was feeding them cut up earthworms,frozen red worms,cichlid sticks,cichlid pellets. They grew to 12"-14". I just traded the 4 african arowanas for 4 baby arapaimas. The aros never stop swimming during the time I had them.

i think the african aro will definately be the next fish i get. i think they are a nice looking fish. i saw a few in an lfs, when i went back the following week they were gone.
