theyre said to be the easiest knifefish to keep. ill ahve to find someone at petsmart who knows something so i can talk to them about it.

It's hard to find any help with fish at Petsmart. A group of ABK will be fine. They shouldn't really fight. They are really docile and aren't hard to keep IMO. They form loose shoals in the wild.
yeah. every time i go in there im always looking for the manager cuz she really knows her fish stuff. but unfortunately the person i always get was moved from her weekend part time to full time, and apparently all the cichlids in that store if they are from the same country can be mixed, nuh uh..... also, im about to tell them to classify some of their fish as tropical aggressive. this comes to mind whenever i see the needlenose gar in their tanks...... but what should i do for more hideaways for them? someone gave me the idea of floating plants since i have insufficient lighting, but they are life-glo bulbs. also i can do fake plants but i need to find out something for caves for each of them, even though they might pick the plants to hide under, they should each still have a cave to retreat to. i have one, that ornament on the bottom of a previous page. any ideas?
If you already have the Knives and they're not in any stress, then you don't have to worry about putting so many hiding spots. They are really compact so they can probably all hide together. The more you have, the less fearful they become (safety in numbers, I guess). Probably 2 caves and one spot in your tank that has some floating plants and you should be good. 
i dont have the knives yet. but i was gonna get a pack of some really tall plants so help blot out some lighting. so im still wondering what to do for another cave. they should be pretty comfortable in the tank. my tetras are comfy in the tank, they dont school they just go in all directions. however they are schooling right now for some odd reason. they dont usually do. and ill have to check out getting some floating plants, prolly fake ones, but ill see.
Are you trying to go for a natural set up? I'd just get some rocks and do a rock pile. Don't necessarily have to make a cave.
well you could say its almost a natural setup..... but petsmart doesnt carry rocks like my other lfs does. the lfs has these slabs of red rocks, but im not sure what id do with them without using epoxy to put them together. id have to find some wider rocks to make a good stabile cave. im not sure if my artistic skills or a lack thereof would make the tank look good. prolly still get some broad leaf tall plastic plants, and maybe some floating plants to help with the setup. they dont really have any ornament that would work as effective as the cave i have now.

Better off going to the park or river and finding some nice rocks...just boil it and it's good to go.
ill prolly still do some of the plants but ill see if i can get together some rocks. first ill have to find someone at petsmart who will know about the fish so i can actually make an educated purchase. (regarding food) will sinking shrimp pellets work? or should i go for the hikari sinking carnivore food pellets?
