african cichlid problem,need help !!!!

Before you breed you need to test your water and fix whatever is wrong with it. Just slow down no need to breed yet. Sounds like you're new to aquarium keeping.
 
How big is your tank? It is best to have multiple females for your male. Also most dont recommend mixing mbuna with haps .Huge water changes have been known to trigger spawning.
 
your fish is definitely irritated by something in the water. but I would not be too concerned about that, my fish do that from time to time and my PH is at a very stable number. but just in case your parameters are off make sure you test the water, and test the new water before water changes, if it comes from a natural source your PH may fluctuate with rain and runoff.
 
yes guys you are wright about breeding them so i don't want to came back at this subject . the good part is that i didn't see my fish scratching the sand for a pretty good time ......if the ph was or is the problem , a driftwood decoration may be the cause ?? i ordered a female jag at a fish store as i have a male and i want to breed them and i thought that if my male jag isn't scratching the sand and decor the water parameters are good for him ..no ??????
 
and also i am not new to aquarium keeping as i have fish tanks from 4-5 years ...i want to know how to breed them as i only want small live fish to feed my jaguar
 
If you want to a great ph buffer use a #3 crushed coral. It is not to fine but your cichlids can still pick it up & spit it out. If this substrate is too light in color for your taste you can add some in your HOB filters or inside your canister filters. I agree with the other posters when you start messing with chemicals in your tanks you are asking for trouble.:)
