African leaf fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they aren't really that picky so most foods will be fine. they are kind of slow eaters thou compared to most fish

Ctenopoma grow rather slow, but when it comes to eating there is no need to worry about weaning them onto particular food, they will readily eat flakes and pellets for the most part

Ctenopoma acutirostre is by far the most common species in the genus. They get about 6 inches, sometimes slightly more. They do fine with bichirs. I was thinking about setting my 75 up as an african oddball tank, with bichirs and ctenopomas mostly.

I don't think they are very picky. You already have it, right? pellets are the easiest thing to feed it, but pretty much anything frozen is fine. It will probably eat any live insect/worm/other invertebrate it can fit in its mouth. Crickets, earthworms, mealworms, flies, etc. Feeding them exclusively is a waste of time though.

Yea he enjoys basicly anything i throw in there. Not much for the flakes but the shrimp pellets and the crushed krill pieces he loves. Also the bloodworms as well.

Looking at the pics he is definately a ctenpoma acutirostre. Not brackish at all, in fact prefer water a bit on the soft acidic side.

Bit off topic, but what is the catfish in the background in the third pic?
