My LFS can get me one if I want and im in the need for a new monster.

thats what ive read as well.

I cant remember the price but at the time it seem reasonable

but in general what do people think of the fish? They seem kind of rare

I've read maximum wild size recorded was 27'' but... I've never seen one that big in captivity.
I would say theyre somewhat rare, under-kept fish.
Do well with polypterus.
