African Odoe Pike Monster

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im thinking of getting it to replace my big compressicepts that always pick on my long fin poly. Do these have a nasty nature as well or are the just aggressive to food sized fish?

I know it depends on the fish but in general or in anyone expirience

anyone?

anyone have one of these?

bump

yeah I've had 4 and now have 2. They are amazing jumpers and can find anyway to get out of a tank possible, much like polypterus. They love live food but are very very easy to get on dead foods. Great with polypterus and not much else, even their own kind. If you get more than one, make sure they are as close to the same size as possible as smaller ones will be picked on severely. The two I have now were originally in with a GATF that was slightly larger than them and they killed the GATF. With all that in mind, they are by far the funnest and most beautiful fish I've ever kept.

really

sounds cool!

i have one and i absolutely love him. You should buy it if you can. Dont worry to grow him out, they grow faaaast!

Temperament must vary from fish to fish by the sounds of it. The one I had (see pics below) was not what I would call an aggressive eater. It would gladly gulp down prawns, whitebait and smelt, but would not compete well for food. I would have to feed him at one end of the tank while keeping the dat fed at the other end. As far as aggression to other fish went, it was noit very tolerent of "like" appearance fish, my bala sharks for instance, but was fine with anything else. Cool fish for sure.
