The hamster in the pic is an Roborovskii's Hamster, (Phodopus roborovskii). The smallest species of hamster u can get. Russian dwarf hamsters are a different species (Phodopus sungorus).

Thanks I did not know that she was listed as Russian dwarf but as you know that means nothing pet stores are wrong now and than.

I have had her by herself as when I got her close to 2 yrs ago (bit less )she was tiny baby but pet store guy said to young to be kept with a male and some get along with mate others dont so just kept her by herself.

I had a syrian as a kid who hated everyone but this one is good though mostly sleeps now eats a bit not like before and doesnt run around as used to .

i love hamsters. all of mine are tame. i tame thm starting at 2 weeks so whn they go to th local pet stores or nw homes they are already very friendly. Ive gotten great compliments by owners who were so happy that they finally walked in to get hamsters with there kids and the kids were actually able to hold the hammies and not get bit , unlike the hammies from petco or petsmart where not even the employess want to stick there hands in.

She has slowed down noticeably in last few days but temp in room is same as its 68 to 72 max . She likes it cool
I read they can live to 3 yrs ?

Besides hamster food she gets little piece of fruit usually apple or veg every day and wax worm once a week.

The shop I used to live near carried pygmy mice and striped grass mice. The pygmy mice battled constantly and tried to bite handlers. The striped grass mice seemed to prefer being in large numbers and nested together. The shop workers also reported that the striped mice tamed down fairly quickly and would climb onto their hands for treats. They also look nicer (IMO) than most mice available.
