I was just looking at my avator and was thinking,
How many people here would know who that is riding the bike,& what movie it was from.
anyone care to guess?

You got to pick a better one than that. That movie came out 15 years before I was born and I knew at first glance.

My company issued me a blackberry for my work. When I 1st started this contract, the customer was used to over 125 equipment service calls per year. Since I rebuilt the system and tuned it to within an inch of its life, I've only had 4 service calls this year. Routine maintenance only takes up about 14-18 hours of my 40 hour week. That leaves me a bit of free time to look "busy" on my blackberry while I'm surfing these sites. It's a tough way to earn $65/hr. But, someone has to do it.

Isn't it amazing what people will put up with when they don't know any better?!

Think you'll get the contract next year?

If I couldn't get it, then I'm glad you did.

The company is thrilled with the equipment up-time. They've upgraded the annual contract to a 3-year contract.. To keep me interested in staying, they've added $50/day on-call pay for weekends and holidays, $150/hr for time and a 1/2 overtime, $200/hr for double-time on Sunday/Holiday calls, a 2nd home phone line for remote equipment access, picking up 100% of my cell phone charges, 48 cents/mile for commute and service calls, and a boost to 4 weeks paid vacation/yr (plus 3 optional holidays).

And, I still want to get my hatchery running full up so I can quit this job. No matter how nice they make it, on-call 24/7/365 with 1-hour guaranteed responses still feels like house-arrest. I can never go more than an hour from the customer site. And...THERE"S NOTHING AROUND HERE!!!

:headbang2 Glad to hear they're so happy with you, I'm sure it was alot of work on your part to get to this point tho.

What exactly is it that you do / work with?

How about I out bid you in three years so you can do fishies full time and be poor like most of us. :D

I'm presently an electromechanical engineer. I install and service high-speed radiologically-sourced scanning control systems used in large-scale manufacturing (paper, metals, chemical, petrochemical, etc). These scanners measure and control processes by way of over 12,000 measurement scans per second (basis weight, consistency, moisture, caliper, ash, color, formation, opacity, brightness, etc. There's a slew of other equipment that I maintain but, this is the main focus of my job.
I was basically hired for my background in high-end electronics maintenance from my Navy career where I took care of missile and gun search and action radar tracking/guidance platforms and analog/digital multi-configuration communications systems.

Sorry for the derail.

I have had bikes and worked in the motorcycle industry for years I loved that film and I can tell you a fact about it.

Peter Fonda was an experienced motorcycle rider and the bike he rides in the movie is seriously stretched he also had the "ape hanger" style handlebars. Dennis Hopper was not as experienced a rider, therefore his bike is less radical. So the riders ability styled the bikes for the film.

Very cool, I design and build prototypes that use those technologies...and I now understand why you want to get into raising fish...:D

Tell me about it. I have a 99.993% equipment up-time. Which isn't easy to do when a large portion of your equipment is labeled "beta 1.0" utilizing software "ver.1.0".
