In the UK you need to be 15 to be able to work in a pet shop with out reptiles, and 18 to work in a petshop with reptiles, hope this helps

i think that most companies basis of thinking is that 16 yr olds arent responisible enough to hold a job so they dont employ anyone over 18 most of the time

That is weird, especially because you informed me your mother is mexican.

I grew up with Mexicans, and IME they are very prone to be motivated to work. Sure there are idiots who make their people look bad, but most, generally work hard.
also, there is alot of logical support for stereotyping, I hardly consider it "wrong".

Most store owners that are aware of the law here will sell to minors trusting that the adults supervising them will do the right, moral, and decent thing to do.
