I truly have no idea, looks like afer but i havent seen the other. Ill look up pictures to see the difference and try to determine, i didnt know there was 2 referred to as that. It was just marketed as black featherfin knifefish, asked him if it was african and he said yeah for sure

This guy is lucky, i put him into the divided side of the tank so he can adjust w/o having to deal w/ my red wolf bloody face. Well he immediatly shot right over to in front of bloody face. Bad move. He got grabbed by the face and thrashed a bit, hes all good now i broke it up and there isnt much damage. Just some cuts and missing scales. Ive seen my wolf decapitate fish like that so im pretty happy he survived

For growth, I have no idea, but I'm going to assume it is close to clown knife species.Same here, im very close to having all of the babies for my 6x3 so pumped! Now i got him all i want to add is a few more bichirs (palmas palmas, retropinnis, ansorgii, congicus, bichir bichir), and switch out my red wolf for a hoplias specie since he will be in danger eventually
Hows the growth rate on these guys?
